Experiences on the way
The small things we plan for. Each belongs to a day on a route and can be copied into your own itinerary.
Food
Hut stew by the stove
A communal pot, a wood stove and a long table. Everyone peels something.
Day 2 of The High Pastures Traverse
Bread from the village oven
We queue with the neighbours at six and eat the first loaf warm on the quay.
Day 3 of The Salt Road, Slowly
The pickers' lunch
Long tables under a fig tree, plain food, very good bread.
Day 2 of Harvest on the Terraces
Water

Two-oar crossing
A day of rowing, learned on the job, with a patient instructor in a second boat.
Day 2 of Lakes by Oar and Rail
The tidal crossing
A causeway that exists for an hour at a time. We arrive early.
Day 3 of The Salt Road, Slowly
Walking

The pass before breakfast
A cold, quiet hour on the pass before anyone else arrives, with tea from a flask.
Day 3 of The High Pastures Traverse
Add a stone to the cairn
Each walker adds one stone. Nobody knows why, and nobody objects.
Day 5 of The Long Horizon
Craft
Turn the hand press
A wooden press from before electricity, run by whoever is nearest.
Day 3 of Harvest on the Terraces
Experiences are fictional and have no separate price in this concept.
