Concept case: a services firm clarifies who decides
Concept case. Not a real engagement. No client is named.
A professional services firm lost weeks to decisions that bounced between partners. Ten recurring decisions got a named decider.
Situation: partners, managers and a founder all decided hiring.
The same hire was discussed in three meetings. People said they did not know who had the last word.
Decision: who decides the ten decisions that cause friction.
The founder sponsored the work and agreed to give up two decisions.
Work: interviews, a draft decision map, two workshops.
For each decision: one decider, who must be asked, who must be told. The map fitted on one page.
Decision: trial the map for one quarter, then review.
The trial began with two teams; a review was booked for the end of the quarter.
What changed: fewer repeated meetings.
Described qualitatively. No figures are stated in this concept.
