Studio
Four people in an invented harbour town, one big table, a lot of ink.
Manifesto
We think colour is a language and type is its voice. We like both loud, and we like both clear.
We keep our work small enough to do properly and our rules short enough to remember.
Working rules
Readable at every setting.
If a letter has to be guessed at, we pull it back.
Calm on request.
Every animation has a still sibling. We switch to it when you ask, or when your system does.
Write it down.
Decisions live in a document anyone can find, not in a chat.
Show the making.
Our stories say how a thing was made, not just that it was.
The people (all fictional)
No photographs: the people are invented, so each is a colour plate with initials.
Ines Varga
Creative director
Draws the first letter of every project by hand.
Tomas Reyer
Type and motion
Keeps a list of letters that cannot be stretched.
Aiko Brandt
Front-end
Believes in a page that works with the stylesheet off.
Okan Lindqvist
Producer
Says the word no kindly and early.
Tools and type
We draw in vector, test type in a browser and keep a grain jar of scanned paper. Our display face is a variable font that stretches in width; our text face is a calm humanist sans.
Accessibility
We aim for WCAG 2.2 AA, test with keyboard only, and treat reduced motion as a first-class mode.
