Migration Without the Headaches
Migrating a Drupal site — especially from Drupal 7 — is one of the most technically demanding projects in the CMS world. The architecture changed fundamentally between major versions. Content types, fields, views, users, files, and configuration all need to move. If your site has custom modules, those need to be rewritten or replaced. If you have years of content, that migration needs to be tested, rolled back, and tested again.
We have run migrations from Drupal 6, 7, 8, and 9, as well as from WordPress, Sitecore, and custom PHP applications. We know where the problems hide.
Our Migration Approach
We start with a discovery phase: inventory of all content types, fields, and relationships; audit of custom modules and their Drupal 11 equivalents; identification of contributed modules with no current upgrade path; and a risk assessment. This phase produces a migration plan with effort estimates before any code is written.
We use Drupal's Migrate API for content migration, running incremental migrations repeatedly against a copy of production until the data is clean. We build rollback procedures. We test in staging before touching production. We plan for zero-downtime cutover.
