About the workshop
Lemnor is a made-up workshop used to show what a furniture site could be. The way of working below is the thing we are proposing.

Four ways of working
Say the time first
Every piece has a lead time on its page, in the same sentence as the price.
Wood is the subject
The grain is shown as an illustration and named, not as a colour dot.
No hidden metal
Joints are wood. Where a screw is needed, it is visible and it can be undone.
Repair, not replace
Finishes are oils and soaps you can touch up yourself.
How a piece is made, in six stages
1. Choosing boards
Boards for one piece are picked from the same tree where we can.
2. Cutting and planing
Rough sawn, left to rest for a day, then planed to final size.
3. Joining
Mortises, tenons and dovetails are cut and dry-fitted before any glue.
4. Shaping by hand
Edges are eased and seats are hollowed with hand tools.
5. Finishing
Sanded through three grits, then oiled twice with a day between coats.
6. Delivery
Wrapped, driven, unpacked and checked in your room.
This is a concept project by Artlogic. The workshop, the pieces, the people and the journal are fictional. There is no stock, nothing can be ordered, and no workshop staff are shown.
